It had the perfect location with just the right amount of light that gives you that perfect breakaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The name “Coastal Retreat” is exactly that! A peaceful retreat along the coast. You would be forgiven for not going anywhere but down to the beach during your stay. Coastal Retreat is situated within one of the most beautiful locations on South Africa’s West Coast, this newly built holiday home is 100% self-catering. Built next to the beach access, it is a glorious 1minute walk from the home to the Golden Mile beach, a 4.5 km uninterrupted stretch of beautiful white sandy coastline in St Helena Bay. The town is on the shore of the bay and approximately 150 km from Cape Town. It is well known for its iconic monuments and dolphin and whale watching.

Our home is modern and spacious and has everything you could need including a built-in braai place with a roof that opens up to get all the good fresh outside smells and sounds of the ocean. It comprises of 3 en-suite bedrooms which can accommodate 7 people. The first and second bedroom contain a double bed and the third bedroom contains three single beds. The holiday home comprises of an open-plan kitchen and living area opening up onto the indoor braai. The kitchen is equipped with a fridge, an oven and stove, and a microwave, as well as a dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer for guest’s convenience. Linen and bath towels are provided. Guests are required to bring own beach towel.

A double garage with automated doors provides safe on-site parking.

Coastal Retreat Holiday Home is located only a few minutes-drive from Shelley Point Golf Club and Spa, restaurants, shops and other facilities.

St Helena Bay

“ You’d be forgiven for not going anywhere but down to the beach (which is a glorious 1 minute walk from the house), during your stay.

The strip of beach is beautiful, and gives you the great privilege of seeing both sunset and sunrise from its shore. Sun rises from the right side, facing the ocean and to the left you get to see the sun set down the horizon.

There’s also a cute open hut on the beach, ideal for bringing down your coffee and brekkie and watching the blue water.
But get in your car, and take a 10 minute drive to the lighthouse in Shelley Point.

During the right time of the year, you can witness the migration of the Cape Cormorants down the coast following the Annual Sardine Run. It’s a spectacular view of flocks of these birds flying past the lighthouse into the sunset.

The lighthouse also feels like the pinnacle of the aptly named Shelley Point, with thousands of shells decorating the white sand.

On a trip to the OK supermarket, take a detour down the gravel road to Paternoster. While the road is best travelled using a 4×4, you can drive up a kilometre or 2 in a regular car, and feast your eyes on fields of yellow flowers during the season.

The town is idyllic, the house is modern, spacious, light and has everything you could need (including a built in braai place with a roof that opens up to get all the good outside feels), and the coast is a feast for the eyes. „
